Warramunda Estate

Ted Vogt bought the original Warramunda land in 1975. On this property, a cattle and sheep stud called ‘Warramunda Station was operated. The property was expanded by 320 acres in 1980. In 1981, with the Yeringberg Creek flowing through the property, a dam of this size was built. It now supports three vineyards as well as grazing land.

In 2007, the Magdziarz Family acquired “Warramunda Vineyards” from the Vogt Family. The Magdziarz Family renamed the vineyard Warramunda Estate. They built on solid foundations, with a passion and respect for the landscape surrounding it, as well as a vision of a distinctive wine label that reflects the terroir.

Ben Haines, a well-known winemaker and a Magdziarz family member, guided the family to their first-ever solo vintage in 2013. The Magdziarz Family does not compromise on the quality of the wine. Their dream is to build a sustainable business that values long-term relationships.

Olivia, the daughter of Robert and Irene, has created her wine label, “Liv Zak Wine,” which is sold at Warramunda Cellar Door. It includes a Liv Zak Rose 2015 made with Nebbiolo and a Liv Zak Syrah 2014. In the future, the range will consist of barrel-aged Cabernet Sauvignons, Chardonnays, and Pinot Noirs.

Warramunda Estate wines are equally appealing to those who have a deep understanding of wine and to those who are new to it. Huon Hooke is a prominent independent wine writer who has recently praised the Warramunda Estate’s first vintage.

Robert and Irene are the newest members of the smaller wineries of the Valley Yarra. They will participate in the Shortest Lunch this year for the first. The family is excited to be part of the community of wineries that enjoy offering visitors an alternative experience.
