Tasting Notes

Produced from fruit throughout the various blocks of Robert Stein’s 40-year-old vineyard.

The 2014 NSW vintage was spectacular for red wine and this Mudgee Shiraz is a prime example.

A medium-bodied Shiraz with a palate of dark berries and chocolate. It has a long finish with fine tannins. Racked across a variety of new and old oak hogsheads, the wine spent 14 months resting before being bottled.

91 Points Campbell Mattinson , The Wine Front

“This is a hearty shiraz. Plenty of ripeness; almost too much so. It tastes of coffee grounds and malt, blackberry and tar. Acidity helps keep it fresh but the flavour profile is old school. Has to be said; it does it pretty well. Tannin is both soft and fine. Satisfying from start to finish. ”

90 Points James Halliday , Wine Companion

“A multi-vineyard blend with the core provided by the 39yo estate vines. The vintage was less successful than that of the Hunter Valley, and there is a loss of density of the fruit, although the flavours and overall mouthfeel are bright and cheerful. ”
