“It started with an attraction to Rhône Valley Viognier, which is Condrieu, and having tried a lot of Condrieu we thought maybe we should have a go at a dry white wine in that style. It's vintage driven so each year it's different each time. We're going against the norm."”

Tasting Notes

The 2016 Warramunda Estate Viognier displays engaging aromas of red rose, old-spice, ginger blossom and quince. The palate follows through with a touch of lavender, scented musk, thyme, chamomile, lemon curd and brioche.

It is fleshy and textured and woven together by a steely acidity – a nod to what was a great 2016 vintage. A white wine for red wine lovers!

“Light, bright yellow colour, with an unusually fragrant spiciness to its creamy cashew nut aroma, showing lots of lees influence. The palate is lively and fresh with crisp acidity cutting through the rich flavour. Lemon and honey to close. Lovely wine. Very refreshing. It’s a very refined, complex, stylish wine. Superb! It ... shows viognier can deliver great flavour without high ripeness and alcohol. Show more Show less
