Tasting Notes

From the reserve cellars of Schild Estate comes the Edgar Schild Reserve Grenache. Named after ‘Ed’ Schild, who took the reins of the winery at the age of 16 after his father abruptly passed away.

This Grenache is an expressive, medium-bodied, red with a bouquet of Morello cherries, red currant and dark plum on the palate. The finish is long and smooth with the fruit flavours enduring from start to end.

94 Points James Halliday , Wine Companion

“From the Kleeman Vineyard planted 1915 and ‘16, destemmed, open-fermented, matured in new and used French hogsheads for 12 months. A very rich traditional style with lusciously ripe fruit, and the impression of higher alcohol than 14.5%. On the other side, there’s no confectionary flavours to complain about. ”
